Carbonzero Sponsors SCC 2025: Partnering with FCM to Measure and Offset Travel Emissions

Local communities and municipalities play a vital role in advancing a greener economy. As a sponsor of the Sustainable Communities Conference (SCC) 2025, Carbonzero is proud to support this effort by measuring and offsetting travel-related emissions. Through our longstanding collaboration with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM), we help ensure that attendees can participate while minimizing their carbon footprint in a meaningful way.
The SCC 2025, taking place from February 10–13 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, is Canada’s premier event for municipal sustainability leaders. This year’s theme focuses on Reconciliation and Anti-Racism, Equity, and Inclusion, highlighting the importance of building resilient and sustainable communities through diverse perspectives and inclusive solutions. The conference will bring together experts, practitioners, and local leaders to exchange knowledge and explore solutions for sustainable development.
"Our sponsorship of SCC 2025 underscores our commitment to sustainability and climate action. By accurately measuring travel-related emissions and providing high-quality offsets, we’re helping attendees take real steps toward reducing their carbon footprint." – Dan Fraleigh, CEO of Carbonzero
As part of our engagement, Carbonzero will assess the carbon footprint of attendee travel to and from the conference, as well as the emissions associated with the event facility itself. We will then provide third-party verified carbon offsets to neutralize these emissions, ensuring that both travel to the event and facility operations are accounted for in a meaningful way. This partnership reflects our shared commitment with FCM to integrating sustainability into event planning and supporting municipal leaders in their climate goals.
By working with FCM, Carbonzero is helping to set an example for sustainable event planning. Our expertise in GHG accounting and offset solutions allows event organizers to take real, measurable steps toward reducing their environmental impact.
